Product Overview

Two needles sit between the patient and the extracorporeal circuit at every session: the arterial needle that draws blood out, and the venous needle that returns it.

Gauge choice, bevel quality and how firmly the needle stays in place decide whether a session runs at the prescribed blood flow — or ends early with an infiltration and a second puncture. This series covers the full working range from 1.4mm (17G) to 2.1mm (14G), so one supplier can cover routine sessions and high-flow programmes alike.

Both wing designs share the same construction: a sharpened cannula, a colour-coded hub for instant gauge identification, a soft pressure line between hub and connector so that tubing movement is not transferred to the cannula, a line clamp for safe priming and changeover, and a luer lock connector for a secure, standard connection to the blood line.

The difference is in the hub. On the fixed-wing version the wings are moulded as one piece with the hub — the format most markets know, quick to tape down and the most economical at volume. On the rotating-wing version the hub turns inside the wing collar, so staff can re-orient the bevel after the needle is in the vessel and route the line without twisting it against the skin.

Two Wing Designs, One Purpose

Wing format is a clinical-habit decision, not a quality tier. Stocking both lets you serve units that standardised on either — and lets a single tender cover both preferences.

Fixed

Fixed-Wing Needle

Wings and hub moulded as a single part. The familiar, low-profile format: the needle sits close to the skin and is secured with the unit's usual taping routine.

  • Straightforward, familiar handling for routine AVF and graft access
  • Low profile at the puncture site
  • Best unit cost at volume — the default for high-consumption tenders

Rotating

Rotating-Wing Needle

The hub rotates independently inside the wing collar. Once the cannula is in the vessel, the bevel can be turned to the position that gives the best flow, and the line can be laid flat in any direction.

  • Bevel re-orientation after puncture, without re-sticking
  • Easier line routing on deep, tortuous or awkwardly placed fistulas
  • Less torque on the cannula when the patient moves during treatment

Specifications

All four gauges are available in both wing designs. Confirm the packing configuration, shelf life and documentation you need for your market when requesting a quote.

Gauge selection is a clinical decision made by the treating team; the positioning column describes common practice only. Refer to the product Instructions for Use for full indications, contraindications and handling.

Every Component, Explained

The same six components appear on both wing designs — knowing what each one does makes the purchasing conversation faster.

Labelled cross-section of the needle components Bevel Colour band Wings Clamp Soft line Luer lock

1Cannula & bevel — the sharpened tip that enters the vessel; geometry drives puncture comfort and flow.

2Colour-coded hub — gauge identification at a glance, before the pack is opened.

3Wings — securement surface; fixed or rotating format.

4Clamp — closes the line for priming, disconnection and safe handling.

5Soft pressure line — absorbs tubing movement so the cannula stays still in the vessel.

6Luer lock connector — standard, twist-locked connection to the blood line.
